16th International Symposium on Laser-Aided Plasma Diagnostics was held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison September 22-26 2013.

LAPD-2013 was the biennial Laser Aided Plasma Diagnostic conference. Originally inaugurated at Kyushu University, Kyushu, Japan in 1983 , it has been organized by various plasma research groups around the world since.

The LAPD Symposium brought together scientists from disciplines including laser physics, low-temperature plasma chemistry and physics, and nuclear fusion. The Symposium is an important, unique, and fruitful source for cross-fertilization between these fields. Main topics of the Symposium included laser-aided diagnostics for fusion plasmas, industrial process plasmas, and environmental plasmas. Descriptions of laser-aided diagnostics for other plasma applications, and processes related to plasmas, are also welcomed. Instrumentation developments related to laser-aided plasma diagnostics also received emphasis in the program.
